The Camara Municipal da Boa Vista invites everyone to participate in the big New Year’s Eve party ‘Noit d’Fim d one’ with a concert by Zé Delgado and Banda in rua d’Migrante starting at 23 h, with music, dancing, fun and happiness to welcome the year 2025 under the stars.
The invitation-only parties on the beach are the perfect opportunity to immerse oneself in the local culture and have fun until dawn.
There are several happenings where you can toast in joy to the New Year. Perhaps eating lobsters or crabs in a wetsuit (for both is the right time of year).
There are many private house parties where cachupa, the national dish, and the famous grilled fish, chicken and sausages, accompanied by Fogo wine, are a must on the festive table. The aromatic white is also perfect for toasting, then cerveza, the beer, and grogue, the local rum.

Cape Verde also has a number of unique traditions to welcome the New Year.
In Boa Vista and throughout Cape Verde, people prefer to wear white at the end of the year, the colour of good luck, as in Brazil. Many also perform the same propitiatory rituals, asking Yemaja, the Queen of the Sea, for protection (especially for pregnant women), purification and help in general. Seven waves are jumped into the sea to draw peace and lanterns are released into the sky.
